Book Title:
Spoiled: Fresh Ideas for Parenting Your Entitled Child–
at Any Age!

Launch Date: May 30, 2012

Tell me about your book and what is your ideal reader?

We live in the age of the Entitled Child. Many books have been written about entitlement and entitled children. This is not another one. Peggy Harper Lee’s book “Spoiled”, by contrast, is written for and about the parents of an entitled child. Whether you know you have an entitled child and want to change your relationship, wondering if you have an entitled child and want to learn the signs so you can be sure, or you’ve been warned that your child is in danger of becoming an entitled child, this book is for you! Throughout this journey of the entitled child, Lee examines what an entitled child looks, sounds and acts like at every stage from infant to adult. She explores the strategies that you as a parent can use to effectively build a new relationship with your entitled child.

What is your passion for why you write?

Mothering over almost three decades has given Peggy a unique vantage point of the rising entitlement culture and the devastation it brings to families. Working with clients in her financial advisory practice has been the most telling. Clients have shared with her the financial devastation that overindulgence, overprotection, and free-range parenting have wrought on families not to mention the damaged relationships. In the trenches with other parents and children as a community volunteer and with her own extended family she has discovered how to help parents recognize and learn the skills needed to raise children to responsible and successful adulthood. Parenting is a skill, one that can be taught, and she is passionate about bringing resources and tools to those rearing our precious babies.

What advice (if any) would you give to another aspiring author?

If you have been wanting to write a book and it just hasn’t happened yet, carve out the time and just start. You will need professionals to guide you at some point, but waiting until you have a clear vision of the final product to get started will only ensure that you never do. Be careful about who you listen to, and always pay attention to your intuition!

What is your favorite quote, scripture or phrase?

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. –Henry Ford

Anita’s Personal Note: Peggy Harper Lee is a wonderful business woman, first time author and an inspiration to many around her. I enjoy working with Peggy when we are able to her, she has a heartfelt approach to all she does. I was one of the first to get her book, and really have enjoyed reading thru it- not quite thru the book yet but for what I have read, very informative and funny. Her approach to our children when we are having a disagreement is new and I am looking forward to using it, when the times comes. I highly recommend the book to parents, who have a “spoiled” or entitled child in their home or out of their home, it’s never to late to learn fresh ideas and techniques.
