Human Activist- Thor Halvorssen

Not everyone knows the secret to success is achieved by assisting others to live a satisfying life. The truth is it is a daunting task to fight for the rights of others; it only needs determination, dedication, and passion for the people. Human rights activist has been in existence for the longest period now fighting and advocating for the rights of others.

Thor Halvorssen is a renowned human rights advocate. Thor was born on March 9th, 1976. He is a Venezuelan human rights advocate and a film producer who has been focusing on public interest advocacy, public policy, individual rights and civil liberties, as well as pro-democracy advocacy. Mr. Thor is so passionate about the human rights and in his efforts to fight for their rights, he has founded several organizations including; Oslo Freedom Forum. Oslo Freedom Forum is an annual gathering which economists have described as “impressive human rights festival which on the road of becoming an equivalent of the Davos Economic Forum.”

Thor Halvorssen is the founder and the President of Human Rights Foundation. Human Rights Foundation is an organization which is devoted to international human rights and freedom. Thor began his human rights advocacy while still a young adult by organizing oppositions to South Africa apartheid. Thor has a human right advocacy background, where both his parents were human rights activists. Thor’s Foundation, Human Rights Foundation, mainly focuses on fighting for the rights of others. Since its establishment, the organization has been able to release more than seven prisoners. Thor is not only a human rights activist but he is also a film producer, and he has produced a movie; the moon is a harsh mistress. Thor is also involved in community work, and he is the patron of Czech-based children’s peace movement, on own feet, and he is the founder of Moving Picture Institute. Mr. Thor is a go-getter, and he has also written several the books on individual rights and the responsibility of the state. His opinions have appeared in several papers including the New York Times, The Washington Post, and many others.
